Basic Math for Technology
Enhance your Basic Math Skills for today’s Electronics, Communications and Alternative Energy Technologies
This 12 hour course is designed for individuals who want to enhance their mathematics skills for the math concepts used in today’s electricity, electronics and alternative energy technologies. This course reviews number system conversions, scientific notation and rules of exponents, application of Greek profixes to multiples of ten, basic algebra, basic geometry for circles and right triangles, and basic trigonometry for circles and right triangles. Students then learn to apply these math concepts to problem solving of Ohm’s Law and reactance/impedance equations, as well as breaking down IP addresses and data to binary format. This course does not teach you these concepts, but instead focuses on the math used to perform these caluclations using a scientific calculator. This course is an excellent pre-course for individuals who have been away from using these math concepts and/or have little or no experience with the math used in electronics and communications technologies. The math skills learned in this course will help you in all technology training as you pursue your technical career. Students who complete this course will receive a Certificate of Training fro MiraCostaCollege.
